Baked apples (suitable for 6 months+)

Apples are one of the produces on the dirty dozen lists, so always buy organic!

Ingredients:
Organic apples (gala, granny smith, red delicious)
Butter*
Cinnamon
Nutmeg

Instructions:

For beginners without pincer grasp: 

1. Preheat oven to 425F
2. Peel and cut apples 
  • For beginners without pincer grasp:  
    • slightly longer than the palm, and 0.5cm thickness with a crinkle cutter to help baby hold
  • For novice eaters with better pincer grasp: 
    • small bite sized pieces, 0.5-0.75cm
3. Dot apples with butter, sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon
4. Create a pocket with aluminium foil or parchment paper, and place apples inside and seal the pocket
5. Bake for 20 minutes, or until you can:
  • Beginners: 
    • mush it between your fingers
  • Novice: 
    • fork tender
You can store the apples for 3 days. 1/2 an apple is 1 serving for a toddler. 
I usually bake 3 apples at a time because J loves baked apples and by the time he was around 10 months old, he could have one every day.
